Asbestos encapulation

Contact Our Experts

The removal of asbestos is not the only option. It is an expensive operation which also means whatever asbestos is removed will almost certainly have to be replaced with a new material which does not contain asbestos. The option then would be to encapsulate the asbestos.

How is asbestos encapsulated

Asbestos encapsulation involves wrapping and painting the asbestos with a fibre-barrier paint which is specifically designed for the asbestos industry. This method can be used for support beams or pipe lagging.

Other encapsulation options

Another option would be to encase support column or walls which could be in an area where damage and fibre release is a very real threat; such as fork-lifts in warehouses or behind a swinging door. Large ceilings of Asbestos Insulation Board (AIB) or Sprayed-Asbestos Coating can be simply painted with fibre-barrier paint through airless sprayers or alike.
It is the responsibility of the owner of the building to manage the asbestos and to protect those within the building from asbestos fibres.
